GET CHEAP FLIGHTS !

GET CHEAPER FLIGHTS, AVOID THE SCAMS

Everyone goes on holidays at some time, what do you do? Search the net for cheap flights?

It takes hours, I know I did it all the time, switching from one site to the other, comparing prices, times, etc.

Then there’s all those ‘add ons’! You know what I mean : Extra for luggage, Extra for paying by credit card, Extra for runway charges, fuel charges, it goes on and on.

By the time you’ve added all these on you may think the flight on the site you went to before was cheaper?

Now which site was that other flight on?

Search again! get calculator out! start adding it all up again!!! SCREAM! Yes, I’ve done it.

But now I may have found the answer to our problems, YES, Really!

This guy Henry Rustkirk, who was a reservations agent, has decided to reveal all the scams that go on, and how we can ‘Get Cheaper Flights’!  Yippee!

I’m going to check it out, If you want to ‘Save lots of Cash‘ on your next flight too, check it out for yourself.

This is an excerpt from his site:

‘The Shamefully Greedy Airlines…

It doesn’t matter if you call on the phone, go online to a discount travel site or use your local travel agent, the whole system is designed to get you to pay more for your flights than is fair.

The airlines work tirelessly to come up with new ways to extract the most money they can from you.  The schemes they employ against their own customers sound like they were designed by organized crime.

With so many new fees, horrible service and no extras, you are paying way more and getting way less. Now they even want you to pay for your bags to come with you! There is no limit to how far the airlines will reach into your pocket.

I am ashamed to say that I know all of this because I used to be a part of the airline’s crooked system…’

GARDENING TIPS

I’ve got a new grandson whom I’m very proud of and my daughter, who’s vegetarian like me, is bringing him up vegetarian.

Easy organic Gardening

So, I’ve been trying to grow my own veg. I’ve only got a small garden but I’ve got a few things going.

My biggest problem is trying to get rid of pests without using chemicals, If anyone out there has any tips or tricks I’d be glad to put it up here along with some of the things I’m trying.

So, please write in, in the meantime here are some of the Tips and tricks I have heard about.

Tip for white flies: Plant French marigolds amongst your veg. as the whiteflies don’t like the smell.

Tip for slugs and snails: Use old coffee grounds around plants to deter slugs and snails, they don’t like gettint ‘grainy’ bits on their undersides.

Trick for slugs and snails; Another trick for slugs and snails is to put a copper band around your plant pots, it gives them a small electric shock (not enough to kill, but stops them crawling up the side of the pot)

or you can scatter any copper items you have like coins, old copper piping around near susceptable plants.

Tip for blackflies; Spray your roses with a solution of washing up liquid, it helps stop the blackflies from attatching themselves to the plant.

VINEGAR TIPS

Vinegar bug repellant

Put some white vinegar onto your skin in the evening, mosquitoes don’t like it!

Chrome cleaner

Shine the chrome on your car with a cloth dampened with white vinegar.

Bolt Loosener.

Loosen an old rusty bolt, soak a cloth in vinegar and wrap around the bolt, leave for an hour to let the vinegar do it’s work.

carbonated drinks are also good for this.

Vinegar Toilet Cleaner

Pour about 20 cl of vinegar around the bowl and on the sides and leve it for around 20 to 30 minutes, then use your toilet brush to scrub around the bowl.

To remove film in glass baby bottles, fill with equal parts hot water and white distilled vinegar. Let sit for at least an hour. Scrub with a bottle brush.

To clean and disinfect baby toys add a good-sized splash of white distilled vinegar to soapy water.

Clean vinyl baby books or board books by wiping with white distilled vinegar. Wipe clean with a damp sponge or cloth.

Clean scissors that have become sticky (after cutting tape, for instance) with a cloth dipped in undiluted white distilled vinegar.

Tips and Tricks with tape

Extreme use of Tape! There are lots of uses for this amazing tape (called Gaffer in the U.K. I think it’s Duct tape in the U.S.A., there must be a similar one elsewhere),

I always have a few rolls about the house and in the car.

Here are a few tips and tricks with “Gaffer”

If you are going walking, cycling or camping, make sure you have a few spare plastic bags with you.

You can slip them over your shoes and wrap some tape around to seal them from the elements.

Don’t forget to take of the tape to let your feet breathe when you get to a dry plce.

I survived a really WET Glastonbury Festival using this Tip.

Seal a crack on an unfamiliar toilet seat with Gaffer to make sure it’s hygeinic and safe for use.

You can use Gaffer to temporarily fix a broken water hose in the garden or car, but make sure you get the car repaired properly at a garage.

CAMERA TRICKS

Take a clear plastic bag or shower cap out when you’re taking photos, WHY? read on…

If you’re out and about with your camera and it starts to rain, slip a thin clear plastic bag or shower cap over the body part allowing the lens to peep out of the opening.

If you need a steady surface to take your pictures, use an old stocking or sock filled with dried beans or rice.

This acts like a ‘beanbag’ and provides a secure platform to rest your camera on.

How to make your pictures look ‘Vintage’

With a cell phone camera (or one you’re not worried about damaging) you can try putting Vaseline directly on the edges of your lens to give your photos an out of focus vignette just like old film cameras.

If you’ve got nice equipment, you should probably put your grease of choice on a clear lens filter that you aren’t worried about damaging.

Try one of these useful ideas.

  • Stretching a nylon stocking over your lens for images that look like they’re from old time toy cameras. (Try different colors, too!)
  • Experimenting with clear paper, wax paper, or anything else slightly transparent to shoot through.
  • Combining  Color filters with the grease/Vaseline method for photos with beautiful colors and awe-inspiring focus tricks!
